Pingford’s Porridge is not meant to replace your ferret’s kibble diet. It is meant to serve as a supplement to kibble. Your ferret needs high quality ferret kibble for good tooth health.

While animal product proteins and fats are excellent for your ferret’s health, a diet consisting of only Pingford’s Porridge could cause health problems including obesity and poor tooth health.

Feeding Pingford’s Porridge to Ailing Ferrets

Our own ailing or aged ferrets lacking appetite are served Pingford’s Porridge several times a day, up to every few hours depending on the health and appetite of the ferret. Always feed Pingford’s Porridge as per your veterinarian’s guidance.

Before trying anything else, allow your ferret to sniff a bowl or plate of Pingford’s Porridge. He or she may dive right in without any coaxing at all.

Some ferrets may be less apt than others to try something new. Follow these tips to help your ferret dive gleefully into a bowl or plate of Pingford’s Porridge:

♥ Try adding a small portion of your ferret’s favorite supplement to taste. Then gradually reduce the amount of supplement at each feeding until only Pingford’s Porridge remains. Adding water to thin Pingford’s Porridge may appeal to your ferret’s texture preferences-try it thick, try it thin.

♥ Serve Porridge slightly warmed or at room temperature. A cold bowl or plate of Porridge is sometimes unappealing to a ferret.

♥ Try adding a dollop of Pingford’s Porridge to your ferret’s belly as you clip nails.

♥ If your ferret turns up his or her nose at Pingford’s Porridge, dip your finger in the Porridge and dab a bit on the tip of your ferret’s nose. A lick will eventually occur and your ferret may decide it’s delicious!

♥ Your ferret needs nutrition in addition to what they get from kibble. If your ferret strongly resists the addition of Pingford’s Porridge to their diet, use a feed syringe (available from your veterinarian) to get a little Pingford’s Porridge onto your ferret’s tongue. Sometimes this is all it takes for a ferret to decide this is good stuff.

♥ For some ferrets, it takes many attempts. Keep trying. Most ferrets come around and find Pingford’s Porridge quite tasty.
